Our Privacy Commitment
No Cloud Storage
We do not store your voice recordings or recognized text on our servers. All voice data is processed in real-time and immediately discarded.
Direct to API Provider
Voice data goes directly to your chosen cloud API provider. We act only as a conduit and never intercept or store your audio.
No Identity Association
We do not associate your voice data with your personal identity. All processing is done with anonymized session tokens.
Complete Anonymization
Customer IDs used for API authentication are anonymized and cannot be used to track specific voice content back to you.
How Voice Data is Processed
VTyper uses cloud-based Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) services to convert your voice to text. Here is exactly what happens:
- Capture: Your voice is captured locally through your microphone
- Streaming: Audio is streamed in real-time directly to your configured ASR provider.
- Processing: The ASR provider processes the audio and returns text
- Delivery: The recognized text is inserted into your active application
- Discard: Audio data is immediately discarded and not stored by VTyper
Important Note
VTyper does not process voice data purely locally. All voice recognition requires an internet connection to cloud ASR services. Your audio never touches VTyper servers—it goes directly from your device to the API provider.
Information We Collect
Voice & Audio Data
- What: Voice audio captured for speech recognition
- Where: Sent directly to third-party ASR providers
- VTyper Access: We never see, store, or process your audio
- Retention: Audio is processed in real-time and immediately discarded
Account & Waitlist Information
When you join our waitlist or create an account:
- Email address (for product updates and authentication)
- License key information (for paid users)
- Optional: Language preferences and use case information
- Session tokens (anonymized, cannot trace back to voice content)
Data Anonymization
We take several measures to ensure your privacy:
- Anonymized API Keys: Your API credentials are hashed and never exposed in logs
- No Voice-to-Identity Link: We cannot and do not associate specific voice content with your account
- Ephemeral Sessions: Recognition sessions use temporary tokens that expire after use
- No Persistent Audio: We do not log, cache, or retain any audio data
Third-Party ASR Providers
VTyper integrates with cloud ASR providers. When you use our software:
- Your audio is sent directly to the provider you configure (bypassing our servers)
- Each provider has their own privacy policy governing how they handle your data
- We recommend reviewing your chosen provider's privacy policy
- You control which provider (if any) you use through your own API key
How We Use Your Information
Information we collect is used solely for:
- Providing the voice typing service
- Authenticating your license (for paid users)
- Sending product updates and announcements (with consent)
- Improving VTyper based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
Data Retention & Deletion
- Voice data: Processed in real-time and never retained. We have no record of what you said.
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
- Waitlist data: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
